Starting a blog has been on my to-do list ever since I launched Vendi full-time in the fall of 2023. There are many reasons for this. At the top of the list is my long-time desire to write a book for the sales community. A blog seems like a great way to keep myself writing regularly and thinking deeper about ideas and topics I engage with every day – and it feels a lot less daunting than writing a book from scratch. Plus, I hope this blog will educate my clients and followers and become a valuable resource for them.
In the Vendi Sales Blog, I plan to cover a variety of topics from many angles. Expect reflections from current and past engagements, practical advice, book and sales course reviews, and updates from Vendi and myself.
I feel like most people reading this first post know me, but for those who don’t, or if you stumble across this blog in the future, let me share a bit about myself.
Since I was about 5 or 6 years old, I knew I wanted to go into sales. My father was a sales rep for a flooring manufacturer, and I spent many days on the road with him. From visiting clients to watching the Cricket World Cup in their breakrooms and enjoying Country Style egg salad sandwiches while watching planes take off and land at Pearson International Airport – these are some of my fondest childhood memories and they solidified my desire to pursue a career in sales.
Fast forward to my early 20s, I started in inside sales for an automation company, working my way up to Account Manager, Capital Sales, Sales Manager, and finally Director of Sales by the age of 29. Throughout this journey, I found great success in selling and enjoyed the process immensely. But when I moved into sales leadership, I really found my stride, enjoying the pressure and responsibility of leading and guiding a team even more than individual sales roles.
Like most companies, we brought in many consultants, and I admired their ability to engage at a high level, build trust quickly, and make significant impacts across various teams and companies. This inspired me to believe that with my skills, I could help more than just my team and bring substantial value to organizations worldwide. These reflections planted the seed for Vendi Sales Consulting.
As a Sales Manager and Director of Sales, I invested a lot of time and energy into executing and following Mike Weinberg’s book Sales Management Simplified. I connected with Mike online, met him in person, and took every course he offered. By implementing his process, I saw consistent results, thanks to a great team and a simple yet effective process. However, I noticed that many who praised the book struggled to fully implement its teachings. This realization helped the Vendi seed blossom. I realized I had a gift for implementing Mike’s process and a passion for leading, coaching, and mentoring. With Mike’s permission, I launched Vendi with the goal of helping companies build sales teams that achieve greater visibility, accountability, and win more sales by following his Sales Management Simplified process.
In my first 9.5 months in business, I’ve worked with over 13 businesses, implementing aspects of Mike’s book. Some companies needed us to work through the entire book, while others benefited from focusing on specific areas like visibility, accountability, or coaching.
The more companies I work with, the more I confirm that my previous success with Mike’s process wasn’t a fluke. This drives my passion to help more businesses, owners, and sales leaders learn about this simple and effective method for creating high-performing sales teams.
I hope you will subscribe to my blog to receive the latest updates, where I will share more of my story along with practical tips, advice, and observations from the world of sales.
Cheers!
